Have you ever been jolted out of a sound sleep to discover that you had actually stopped breathing? That’s what happened to me a couple years ago and if it wasn’t for the swift action of my wife Crystal, I probably wouldn’t be writing this blog.
Why I Need A CPAP Machine
Let me back up a little. My name is Bradley. Not Brad, but Bradley. I had no idea what sleep apnea was until that one night when Crystal started to shake me frantically. I’ll never forget her terrified look when she woke me up. She had been lying next to me watching television and I had nodded off. It’s the way I usually fall asleep after a long day.
Well, anyway, Crystal noticed after a few minutes that I wasn’t breathing normally and at one point had actually stopped breathing. That was what prompted her to shake me out of my sleep. As vivid as that memory is to me today – a few years later – I still can’t remember what I was dreaming about at the time. I also have trouble remembering my debit card PIN number.
That’s sort of normal for me. I’m good with details but some of the technical stuff I’m not so good with. It was because of this – and the diagnosis that confirmed I have sleep apnea – that encouraged me to launch this website and share with you all I have been able to find about the machines and accessories needed for a good night’s sleep without interruption.
Family Support Is Important
Oh, I should mention that I have the blessing and support of my family in this little online venture of mine. Crystal and our girls, Brianne and Morgan, seem to understand that sleep apnea has given me something to be passionate about. I want to learn all I can about it and what I learn I want to share with others. And I guess that in a way, I’m doing that now with you.
Trust me, you don’t want someone in your house waking you up from what could have been a tremendous dream for you and a potential nightmare for them. But don’t despair. If you have sleep apnea or have recently been diagnosed with a sleeping disorder of any kind, there is hope. Once I discovered that, it really calmed me down so I could focus on what I had to do.
By the way, we are a working family. I spend a lot of time doing office jobs. I am currently a bookkeeper for a small business in town (don't let the beard fool you) and Crystal is a First Responder. Our girls are both in high school now. The internet has allowed me to reach others on a larger scale to share my findings and product recommendations for treating sleep apnea and other sleeping disorders.
I hope you find our website interesting and that you learn something new by visiting with us a little while. If you think of something we should add, please contact me and I’ll look into it. I want this website to be accurate and informative. So, thank you for stopping by. We hope to see you again sometime soon.
Bradley (Crystal, Brianne and Morgan).
